When Lawrence Carl Traeger was born on 25 March 1894, in Hobart, Ross Township, Lake, Indiana, United States, his father, Lawrence Traeger, was 22 and his mother, Huldah Svensson or Swanson, was 23. He married Laura 'Esther' Nitilia Carlson on 12 October 1918, in Cook, Illinois, United States. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 1 daughter. He died in June 1981, in DuPage, Illinois, United States, at the age of 87.
