Paul E. Luedtke, age 72, of Valparaiso, Indiana passed away peacefully at home on March 19, 2025, surrounded by family.
He was born on October 4, 1952, in Gary, Indiana, to the late Les and Janet Luedtke.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 21 wonderful years, Holly Luedtke; his children, Kelly (Kevin) Trinosky of Las Vegas, NV, Kevin (Patricia) Luedtke of Valparaiso, IN, William (Jen) Nelson of Wheeling, IL and Nicholas (Amanda) Nelson of Glen Ellen, IL. He was a proud grandfather to Riley, Abby, Micah, and Jason all of which brought him so much joy.
Paul is also survived by his siblings: David (Nancy) Luedtke, Bill (Donna) Luedtke, Sandy Luedtke, Randy (Doreen) Luedtke, and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was a graduate of Hobart High School class of 1970. Paul served his country with honor in the United States Army. He cherished his years working alongside his father and brothers at the family roofing business before moving on to work at U.S. Steel as an ironworker/boilermaker for 28 years. Paul then became a journeyman Ironworker with Local 395 where he had the opportunity to work with his son for many years before retiring in 2015. He found true fulfillment in those last 13 years of his career at Steven’s Iron Works, where he was able to enjoy and share his passion for planning, designing and fabricating steel. Paul was a man of many talents and always willing to share his knowledge and strong work ethic with anyone willing to learn.
Paul was a simple family man who took great joy in life’s quiet moments. He cherished time at the family property in Michigan, fishing trips to Minnesota, and visiting his favorite vacation spot St. Thomas. Paul loved spending time at home, working around the house and yard. His devotion to his family and anyone close to him left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Paul will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 12 p.m. until the funeral service at 4 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th Street, Hobart, IN. Rev. Steve Buchelt officiating.
