George E. Ramsay Jr., age 74, of Hobart passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026. He was born on October 19, 1951, in Gary, Indiana, to the late George Sr. and Eleanor Ramsay.
George was a proud 1970 graduate of Hobart High School. He worked as a pipeline maintenance technician for several companies throughout his career.
George was an avid outdoorsman who especially loved the cold weather and beauty of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. He enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors, hunting the land and fishing the waters of Lake Superior. He cherished the peace and solitude that came with being outdoors and making memories in a place he loved.
He is survived by his sisters, Carol J. (Sue Milnamow) Ramsay and Joan E. (Robert) Hess; two nieces, Karla (Matt) Davison and Kirsten (Jon) Vorba; three great-nieces and one great-nephew, Ellie Davison, Keaton Davison, Betty Vorba and Sally Vorba.
George was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Eleanor Ramsay.

So much can be said about George. He was a dear, and true, friend to my brother since grade school. He was always welcomed into my parents home with love and laughter. I knew him, trusted him, like a brother since just a wee kid. Never a disparaging word from him. My dad awed at his profession. More recently, he became a final connection between my brother and I, when all other means of communication failed. He was a true gentleman, seeing the best in people. Some people just strive to do the right thing, despite the cost, and that was George. Always in my heart, honest and sincere, George was an angel to my bro and will always be an angel to me.
