Deanne Summers, age 77, of Porter, Indiana, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on Sunday, February 2, 2025, in Valparaiso, Indiana. She was born on October 24, 1947, in Gary, Indiana, to Woody and Dorothy (Oakley) Summers.

Deanne is survived by her sons, Eric (Crystal) Nelson, James (Jori) Nelson; brother, John (Jackie) Summers; sister, Luanne (Jim) Miller; in-laws, Dave and Jackie Henry; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Woody Summers; mother, Dorothy Summers; son, John Nelson; and brother, Marty Summers.

Deanne was head custodian at Bailey Elementary School for many years before transferring to Duneland School Special Services Center where she retired. She enjoyed spending time with her family and special trips with her girlfriends going to lunch and bingo. She especially loved her furbaby cat, Cleo. Deanne was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
