Dennis Meinert, January 24, 1953 - November 7, 1980.
Dennis Robert Meinert was the son of LaVerne and Florence Meinert of Hobart, and brother to Jim, Jeff and Laurie. He graduated from Hobart High School in 1970, and earned a Bachelor's degree from IU Northwest. He was married to Sandi Smith, who was expecting their first child (Dennis, Jr.) at the time of his death.

Dennis was my best friend in the years after high school. He spent a year with me at IU in Bloomington before moving back to Hobart. I'm happy to say that Sandi married a wonderful man, Pierre Granger, and Dennis Jr., who closely resembles his father, does stand-up comedy among other things. LaVerne and Flo are doing well, too!
