Jim was a truly great friend for many years. He was a very different person than he may have appeared on the surface. During the late 70's and through the mid 80's he and I wrote many songs together. He loved playing, singing and listening to music. He had a great talent for lyrics and wrote some of the funniest and clever lyrics. On the other hand, he was capable of writing lyrics that showed the tender, touching and sentimental side that was not often seen by others.

Jim, I know you are still playing and singing somewhere, and that your 'happy feet', as you claimed to have, are still dancing.  You are missed!

Jim was such a character, always smiling, always being ornery.  He never knew a stranger and was friendly to everyone.  Jim joined the First United Methodist Church about the same time we did and our kids attended programs at the church at the same times.  God bless you Jim, and may you always be smiling.

Jim and I grew up around the corner from each other.  He was a year ahead of me in school.  I lost a ton of marbles, I always thought I could beat him and never did.

I remember meeting Jim in Luigi's Pizza during leave from service, both of us.  The door slammed and he hit the deck.  He just came back from two patrols, one by himself and one with one other guy.  He was the toughest person I knew. Inside I knew him as having a kind and gentle heart with a good sense of humor

I am better for having known him.
