Charles “Chuck” R. Gard, age 75, of Hobart, passed away October 4, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with various health issues. He was born and raised in Hobart, attended Hobart High School, Class of 1965, and was a business owner for many years. Chuck’s most notable passion was fishing with his son and brothers-in-law, dinner and laughter with all of his great friends who he felt blessed to have in his life. He was a generous person and did not hesitate to help out anyone who asked. Chuck will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents-Charles and Alfreda Gard; brother-Robert Gard; two daughters-Sarah and Wendy. Chuck is survived by his wife of 47 years-Karen; son-Lucas Gard; brothers-in-law-Michael G. Uzelac and Mark G. (Jamie) Uzelac; nephews-Nicholas and Timothy Uzelac.

Visitation for Chuck will be Monday, October 10, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 6:00 p.m., at Burns Funeral Home, 701 East 7th Street, Hobart. Chuck’s family would like to thank all his doctors at the University of Chicago and St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart. The nurses and aides were a tremendous help to his family.
