James Leo Rose, age 74 a longtime Hobart resident passed away Friday, March 25, 2022.  He was born on October 11, 1947 in Gary, Indiana to the late Albert and Ruby Rose.  He graduated from Hobart High School, Class of 1965. James retired from U.S Steel where he had worked in Electronics System Repair. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. James enjoyed sports, playing tennis, traveling, Disneyworld, animation, movies, taking videos, and telling jokes.

He is survived by his wife, Esther M. Rose (nee Hutchinson) of Hobart, IN;  two sons, Sean C. (the late Sarah) Rose of Munster, IN; Brian J. Rose of Peotone, IL; one daughter, Jennifer L. Rose of Munster, IN; one grandson, Ethan T. Rose, sister-in-law, Sandy Rose Dunning, one nephew, Patrick Rose, and two cats, Bella and Mercy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Cheryl Rose, one brother, Carl Rose, father and mother-in-law, EJay and Mary Lou Hutchinson.

Cremation will take place with Rees Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Hobart Chapel.   Private burial of cremains will be at Hobart Cemetery.  A celebration of life is planned for a later date.
