Obituary for Janet Gail Manis (nee Smith)

Janet Gail Manis, born August 9, 1951, to Dean and Marie Smith, bid farewell to this world on October 15, 2024. She is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Jim, her loving children Valerie (Dan) Cook and Mike (Jessie) Manis, her brother David (Kathy) Smith, seven grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Janet's warm presence and infectious kindness left a mark on the hearts of those who knew her. She had an amazing talent for gardening and all things floral. She had a remarkable ability to form connections with everyone she encountered. With her unbridled spirit, Janet knew no strangers and made everyone feel valued and heard.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and one brother.

Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her memory and the love she shared will forever endure. Janet will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.

May she rest in eternal peace.

Memorial visitation and service will take place at Burns Funeral Home & Crematory 701 East 7th Street Hobart, IN 46342, on Tuesday, Ocotber 22, 2024. Visitation from 3 PM - 5 PM with a memorial service starting at 5 PM.
