OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES (Seotember 18, 2008)

Patricia June Vendl (nee Smith), age 57 of Chesterton, IN passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 in Valparaiso, IN. She was born on July 12, 1951 in Gary, IN to Richard and Madge (Doctor) Smith, who survive of Hobart, IN. Patricia was married on November 22, 1974 in Hobart, IN to Larry Vendl, who survives of Chesterton. She is also survived by her daughter, Megan (John) Simmons of Valparaiso; brother, Chuck (Jean) Smith of Valparaiso; and grandson, Ian Simmons.

Patricia was a lifelong area resident and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hobart. She graduated from Hobart High School, class of 1969 and enjoyed gardening and being with family and friends. Patricia worked at Bethlehem Steel for 10 years; she later worked for five years in the Pro Shop at Sand Creek Country Club.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 7:00 pm at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2:00 until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Cremation Heritage Crematory, Portage, IN.
