John J. Zack, age 74, of Portage, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. He was born on December 29, 1950, in Gary, Indiana, to John and Ida (Consorti) Zack.

John is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Kathy (Drudge) Zack; son, John A. (Angie) Zack; two daughters, Jennifer (Casey) Jones, Laura (Dan) Terpstra; two sisters, Betty Brock, Sue (Ash) Bishop; four grandsons, Sebastian Zack, Aiden Jagiela, Ellis Jones, Cody (Andrea) Triscik; five granddaughters, Ida Jones, Brittney Vestal, Ariel (Christopher) Girod, Madison (Tyler) Paholski, Emily Triscik; Larry (Carolyn) Zonder, who was like a brother to him; and many extended family and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frank Jakich, and Wayne Jakich; and brother in law, Paul Brock.

John was a former business owner and drove a truck for many years. He was a gear-head who couldn't find a machine that he didn't want to take apart and put back together. John enjoyed racing with his friend Larry for many years. He enjoyed gardening and tinkering around the house. His garage was his man-cave for many years with many beers shared with family and friends therein.

Per John's wishes no services will be held at this time.
