OBITUARY FROM THE POST-TRIBUNE (November 24, 2008):

Thomas P. Duffin, age 56 years, of LaPorte, Indiana and formerly of Michigan City and Hobart, Indina, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2008 in Porter Memorial Hospital in Valparaiso, Indiana. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday November 25, 2008 at the Cutler Funeral Home, 2900 Monroe Street, LaPorte, Indiana 46350 with Pastor Dwayne Hurt officiating. The family will receive friends from 3-7:00 P.M. on Tuesday. Burial will take place at a later time. Tom was born March 23, 1952 in Gary, Indiana to the late Homer and Helen (nee Macy) Duffin. He was married May 6, 1972 in Hobart, Indiana to Dawne Neibert Duffin who survives.

Tom was a loving father to Adam (Mindy), Jacob (Nicole), Tyler, Emily, Jonathan and David Duffin. He was a loving grandfather to Destiny, Evan, Logan, Jadin, Bailey, and Marie.He is also survived by a Sister, Patricia Scarbrough of Portage, Indiana; two nieces, Tammy Mceuen and Jami Ott; and two very special friends, Steve Cox and Ralph Lucas. He and Dawne opened their home to many foster children. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Ashton. He worked for 39 years at Mittal Corp. as a scheduling clerk. Tom was a member of the Lake Co. Officials Association, and the Army National Guard for 6 years. He loved golf, fishing in Canada, Disney World and especially his grandchildren.
