OBITUARY FROM THE HOBART GAZETTE (August 30, 1995)

Martin O. "Marty" Hamlin, 46, of Hobart, died Sunday, August 27, 1995. He was a crossing guard at Joan Martin School and formerly a crossing guard at George Earle School since January, 1994.

Not everyone knew him by name, but Mr. Hamlin was a familiar figure in Hobart, helping children cross the streets in all kinds of weather.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 31 from Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, with Rev. Gerald T. Walworth officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Valparaiso.

Mr. Hamlin is survived by his parents, Charles and Eleanor Boswell of Hobart; two brothers, Robert E. (Judy) Boswell of Winston Salem, N.C. and Charles A. Boswell Jr. of Hobart; three sisters, Patricia (Joseph) Toscani of Lake Station, Elizabeth Papka of Hobart and Kathleen (Leonard) Halascsak of Hobart.
