Robert T. Englebert, “Bob”, age 72, a lifelong Hobart, IN resident passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023.

Bob was born on September 27, 1950 to the late William and Josephine (nee Thomasino) Englebert.  He was a graduate of Hobart High School and worked as a railcar inspector with Conrail.  Bob was a proud Veteran of the Navy and served on the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk.

Bob was a very private man but was liked by everyone he met.  He enjoyed studying and collecting rocks and loved science and math.  Bob started a one-man neighborhood watch and kept his neighbors safe for many years.  He loved his family deeply and was especially proud of their accomplishments.  Bob may not have always shown it, but he was always happy and excited for his family in his own way.  He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who were lucky to know him.

Bob is survived by his children: David (Amanda) Valdez and Megan (Michael) Cleary; granddaughter: Ashley (Glenn); great-grandchildren: Ava, Grayson, and Aubrey; and other extended family members.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents: William and Josephine; and his sister: Rose Morris.

Cremation is entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
