Janet Marie Harkins, 72 of Dawson (Lower Tyrone Township), passed away at 5:50 PM Sunday, May 21, 2023 in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant. She was born January 12, 1951 in Mount Pleasant, a daughter of the late Wesley Paul and Mabel (Davis) Harkins.

Janet was a graduate of Hobart High School in Hobart, IN and retired from WalMart in Mount Pleasant. Previously she worked at Gary Camera Company in Gary, IN and was employed for many years as a secretary at Licciardi Construction Company in Uniontown, PA. Janet enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, gardening, and sports. She was a volunteer and served on the Board of Directors at the Brownfield Community Center, Dawson where she helped with the preparation of the monthly buffet dinners and catering for many years. 

Janet will be sadly missed by her loving family and friends, especially her devoted caregivers and neighbors, Charlene and Harry McNatt of Dawson, who fondly referred to her as “Janie”. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Lewis Harrison and Martha (Bowers) Harkins; her maternal grandparents, Theodore Roosevelt and Frances (Oldland) Davis; her sister, Donna (Harkins) Rittenour; and her nephew, Mark Wesley Rittenour. 

Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the RALPH GALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 501 RAILROAD STREET, DAWSON (www.fergusonfunerals.com). Family and friends will be received from 10 AM - 2 PM Saturday May 27, in the funeral home chapel where funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday with a Pastor Lonnie Rittenour officiating. Graveside committal service and interment will follow in Cochran Cemetery. Afterwards a fellowship meal will be provided in the social area of the Bryan United Methodist Church. Love Lasts Forever!
