OBITUARY FROM R. CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME (NEW CASTLE, PA), JANUARY 19, 2017:
William J. Reed, 66, of New Castle, passed away on January 16, 2017 at UPMC Mercy Hospital. Born in Hobart, Indiana on September 28, 1950, he was a son of Patricia Fahey. A 1968 graduate of Hobart High School, he then served as a petty officer in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed at King's Restaurant as a cook. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, and sports, especially the Chicago Bears. He was a member of the American Legion, National Fire Fighters Association, and AARP.
Survivors include two daughters, Danielle Moore of New Castle and Gina Day of Florence, Alabama; two sons, Joseph Mercer of New Castle and Brandon Reed of Richmond, Virginia; and one grandchild, Jordan Mercer. Preceding him in death is his mother.
In keeping with William's wishes there will be no visitation or service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.cunninghamfh.com.
