James Richard Sweat II, 68, of Langston, AL passed away on July 26, 2026. James was born on July 20, 1958 in Gary, IN.

James is survived by his wife Paula (Selby) Sweat; his daughter, Nichole Sweat (Kenyatta); his sister, Peggy Driemeyer (Don); and his brother, George Sweat.

James was preceded in death by his father James (Dick) Richard Sweat; his mother Mary Lou Sweat; and his brother, Jeffrey Alan Sweat.

James was a master carpenter who did his work with great skill and pride. James enjoyed his life’s work of carpentry. James found peace and relaxation after work and during retirement on the lake bass fishing.

He was a loving and dedicated husband, a wonderful father and a good friend to many.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Indiana at a later date to be determined.
