OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, OCTOBER 15, 2007:

Timothy Michael O'Dell, age 61, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2007 in Westville, IN. Tim was born on October 12, 1946 in Gary, Indiana the son of Douglas and Gertrude (Bode) O'Dell. He married his loving wife Barbara Knapp on March 16, 1968 at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Hobart.

Tim is survived by Barbara of 39 1/2 years; son James (Comfort) O'Dell of Apache Junction, AZ; daughter Lori (Brian) Batronis of Normal, IL; grandchildren: Joseph, Elizabeth and Nathan Batronis of Normal, IL; brother Robert (Roxanna) O'Dell of AZ; father-in-law Dencil Knapp of Valparaiso; brothers-in-law, Dale (Joanne) Knapp of Valparaiso and Dexter (Alice) Knapp of Valparaiso; sisters-in-law: Beverly (Daniel) Simmons of Valparaiso and Karen (Rick) Fleming of LaPorte; aunt Daphne McConnachie of Hobart; uncle Jack Slatton of Merrillville; 14 nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and several cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Gertrude (Bode) O'Dell and mother-in-law Mary Lou (Springman) Knapp.

He loved his family and cherished time with his grandchildren. Tim especially liked spending time outdoors hunting, fishing and golfing with his close special friends and family. Tim served as a Systems Repair Expediter for US Steel-Gary Works with 37 1/2 years of service.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 12:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN with Rev. Charles R. Strietelmeier officiating. Burial will follow at Angelcrest Cemetery in Valpariso. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 17, 2007 from 2-8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home-Hobart Chapel.
