Dr. Philip N. Heller 75 of Nineveh, Indiana passed away on March 16, 2025. He was born on May 9, 1949 in Gary, Indiana to Louis E. and Betty (Ittel) Heller. He married Lana Heller (Yearby) on June 19, 1976.
He is survived by his wife Lana; children, Ryan Heller and Remy Heller; brother, Louis W. Heller and grand dog Miss Piggy. He was preceded in passing by his parents and brother, Mark D. Heller and nephew, Brian Heller.
Phil was a 1967 graduate of Hobart High School and a 1971 graduate of Franklin College. He continued his education at the IU School of Dentistry, graduating in 1979. He worked as an Admissions Counselor at Franklin College after graduating. He later was a Dentist at his own practice in downtown Indianapolis from 1979 to 2020. At Franklin College, he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. There he also participated in the Franklin Follies in 1969. Phil was a star linebacker for Coach Red Faught at Franklin and was instrumental in their Mineral Water Bowl victory of 1970. Through this victory he received the Sagamore Award. Phil loved playing golf, especially with his friends in the Poconos. He was a member of the Indiana Dentistry Association. Phil volunteered for the Scott Brayton racing team in the Indy 500 for several years. He served on the Alumni Counsel for Franklin College. He enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, fishing and hunting. In his sons' younger years, he coached their football teams.
Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, March 20th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin with a Celebration of Phil's life on Thursday, March 20th at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
