Denise Christy, age 74, of Portage and formerly of Hobart passed away in her home unexpectedly. Denise was born June 1, 1949, in Gary, Indiana to the late Albert and Myrtle (Beck) Nault. Denise retired from Allen Landscaping after eighteen years as their in-house Bookkeeper. She was a member of VFW Post 5365 Women’s Auxiliary, attended the Bonner Senior Center where she assisted with Tax Preparation for the AARP Tax Service, and worked for H&R Block preparing Taxes in Hobart and Merrillville. She was a member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church in Portage and was a member of the St. Anne’s Confraternity.

She is survived by her daughter, Mara (Chris) Sewell; son Anthony Christy (Kathy Christy); six grandchildren, Abigail, Emma, Piper, Nova, Harlow, and Nick; and many dear friends and extended family.

Denise was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Myrtle; and her brother, William Nault.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 6:00 PM Tuesday May 14, 2024, at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Ave. Portage, Indiana 46368. Funeral Services for Denise will be conducted at 6:00 pm Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Deacon Dennis Guernsey will Officiate.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bonner Senior Center in Portage or to the Portage Food Pantry.
