Mark Burns - Class Of 1976

OBITUARY FROM THE POST-TRIBUNE, APRIL 10, 2008

MARK R. BURNS Hobart, IN Age 50, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2008. Mark was a lifelong Hobart resident and a 1976 graduate of Hobart High School. He worked for NIPSCO for almost 30 years and during that time received a B.S. in Criminal Justice from IU Northwest. He was an innovative employee for NIPSCO and developed economical ways to repair and maintain equipment. Mark was owner and operator of Alternative Energy Concepts. He was currently serving as the chairman of the Northern Indiana Federal Credit Union board of directors of which he was a member for many years. In the past he had enjoyed skiing and more recently he was an avid golfer. He enjoyed sharing his hobbies with his children, especially kayaking and going to the flea market. Mark enjoyed listening to and playing music. Above all he had a zest for life, a love for learning and a sense of humor which he used to make others laugh.
 
Mark is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Krause; 2 sons, Garrett and Grant Burns, all of Hobart; 7 brothers and sisters, Robert (fiance Vanessa Cooper) Burns of Hobart, IN, Kimberly (Randy) Olson of Hobart, IN, William (Melinda) Mueller of Stock-bridge, GA, Heidi (Bill) Kirkman of Sugar Grove, IL, Heather (JT) Wells of Valparaiso, Holly (Andy) Gunning of Chapel Hill, NC, and Charlie Dockter of Hobart; special uncle and father figure, Robert (Jean) Spangler of Mentor, OH; aunt, Jan (Tom) Blacketor of Jeffersonville, GA, aunt, Doris Devault and Aunt Linda; uncle, Jerry Burns; and many nieces & nephews.
 
Memorial contributions are preferred to the family for the education of Mark's sons. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 12, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. directly at Trinity Lutheran Church, 900 Luther Drive, Hobart, with Rev. Gary S. Nagy and Mark's brother, Pastor Bill Mueller, officiating. Burial to follow at Blake Cemetery in Portage, IN. Visitation will be Friday, April 11, 2008, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Daniel Bass (1976)

Mark was good friend since grade school,
I miss him everytime I see his brother Bob(Doobie) on the job. He was a great person.
