Jimmye (Jim) Boatright - Class Of 1963

Jimmye Dale Boatright passed peacefully on Saturday, April 15, 2023 after a 5-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was 77 years old. Jimmye grew up in Hobart, Indiana, graduating from Hobart High School in 1963. He met his first wife, Judith Ray, in high school, later marrying her in 1964. Jimmye worked for NIPSCO for most of his working career as a supervisor at the Bailly Generating Station, retiring in 2002. Jimmy enjoyed several hobbies, but none as much as Barber Shop singing and fishing. He started singing in barber shop chorus and quartets in his early twenties and continued throughout his life and into his 70’s. Jimmye enjoyed fishing, taking many trips to Canada with friends and family. While in retirement, he fished around the entire United States while traveling with his second wife Carole Deuberry.

Jimmye Boatright was preceded in death by his first wife Judith Boatright and his second wife Carole Deuberry; his parents Virgil and Laverna Boatright; his sister Janice Boatright Sievers, his son-in-law Kelly Loving; and one great grandchild, Lila Rose Boatright.

Jimmye Boatright and his wife Judith had three children together who survive: Jeff (Melissa) Boatright, Jennifer Boatright Loving, and Jason (Kathy) Boatright. Surviving grandchildren include: Adam (Samantha) Boatright, Alex Boatright, Morgan (Corey) Sanders, Matthew Boatright, Xavier Loving, Jason Boatright, Jr., Marissa Boatright, Kaitlyn Boatright, Indigo Loving, Anya Loving, Justin Boatright, and Jayden Boatright. Surviving great-grandchildren include: Madison Boatright, Albert Boatright, and Scarlet Boatright.

Visitation and service will be held at Edmonds and Evans funeral home in Chesterton on Saturday, April 29th. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to Noon with a celebration of life at noon. Luncheon to follow for close family and friends.
