Survived By: His son Billy Ray Ludwig and daughter-in-law Anne Ludwig of Spring Branch, TX, daughter Shannon Belmonte and son-in-law Mike Belmonte of Hobart, IN. His grandson Ryan Ludwig of San Antonio, TX, granddaughter Amber Plott and her husband Colin Plott of Virginia Beach, VA, granddaughter Alexis Snyder and her husband Todd Snyder of Hobart, IN and great-grandson Wyatt Plott of Virginia Beach, VA. Brothers Ralph Ludwig, Jay Ludwig, and Henry Ludwig.

Ray served as a Hobart firefighter for thirty-one years 1967-1998). Prior to that, Ray served as a combat medic in Vietnam for the US Army. Before his death, Ray bought his dream home on Lake Claiborne in Homer, Louisiana where he spent his days fishing, cruising the lake on his boat, and watching the sunsets on the water.
