He and Kathleen traveled extensively, throughout Europe, Southeast Asia, living in Ireland and Japan. His paintings hang around the world. He set up his studio in Champaign, Illinois on the banks of the Sangamon River where he painted the seasons. He enjoyed painting his environs, never said no to painting a beach and was generous in donating his art to worthy causes such as the Krannert Museum and Artists against Aids. David ended his painting days in a studio on Westside Park in Champaign, Illinois where he painted the park and downtown. He is survived by Kathleen, his wife of 51 years and Susan Smith Lesser of Forest Hill, Maryland, Class of 1965.
