The family came to the U.S. in 1952, and settled in the Gary area. Marie was married to Thomas C. Yeager on August 13, 1966, and together they were blessed with three children. She was a lifelong member of Protection of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church. After her graduation from Hobart High School Class of 1963, she studied nursing and graduated in 1966 from Mercy School of Nursing in Gary as R.N. In addition, she served in the oncology department at Lakeland Regional Health Center in St. Joseph, MI, before retiring in 1998. Marie had a great love for all of God's creations. She loved gardening among the wild birds and butterflies that were attracted by her flowers. Her dogs, Sam, Flash, Buff, Penny and Pepper, never failed to bring her joy. She enjoyed relaxing with all types of needlework. Marie was soothed by the beauty of nature especially the water, and walking along the beach at sunrise. Her love of water and nature extended into boating and fishing on Lake Michigan. Marie was also an avid fan of Notre Dame football, and enjoyed attending home games. She was a dear friend to many and touched the lives of everyone who had the fortune to come in contact with her. She will be missed by many--and continued to be loved by all.
