Obituary for Leonard Greener
Leonard F. Greener, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2024, at the age of 81. Leonard was born on March 6, 1943. He attended St. Bridget Chuch and school. He was a graduate of Hobart High School, Class of 1961. Leonard graduated from Indiana State University with a Master of Science and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha. He was a dedicated teacher of over 30 years at Portage schools.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents Francis and Elinor Greener, his sisters JoAnne Schinella and Mary Ellen Thyen and brother Thomas Greener. He is survived by his daughter Samantha Russell, son-in-law Kennis Russell, grandchildren Evangeline and Pierce Russell, his life partner Cheryl Kaczorowski, his siblings Susan Graves, Michael Greener, Cynthia Theodoros, Gregory Greener, Lisa Field, Jeffrey Greener and Betsy Van Deinse and his many nieces and nephews.
Known for his sharp wit and humorous spirit, Leonard could always be counted on to lighten the mood with a well-timed joke or a playful remark. Leonard was a devout Christian and a caring friend. His love for his family was profound and he found immense joy watching his grandchildren grow and thrive. He loved sports, travel and playing poker.
Leonard's presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, students, and colleagues. His legacy as a dedicated teacher, loving father, doting grandfather, and loyal partner will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A private memorial service will be held in honor of Leonard in Empire, Michigan.
