OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, JANUARY 4, 2010:

Barbara Lynn McClain, age 66, a lifelong resident of Hobart, passed away. She was a graduate of Hobart High School, class of 1962. Barbara went to be with the Lord on January 2, 2010. Barbara was born on September 2, 1944, the fourth of seven children to the union of Fred and Lorrayne (Lantz) McClain.

She will be buried next to her brother, George who preceded her in death, as does her parents: Fred and Lorrayne; nephew, Earl and nephew, Cory Lemon. Barbara loved talking on the telephone, reading, sending cards. She loved talking to her friends and relatives: Connie, Joannie, Candice, Marcella, Penny, Billie, Diane, Dorothy and Janice. Those who morn her passing are Carolyn Harris of Hobart, Lu Lemon Carlson of Hanna, IN, Beverly (Fred) Furns of CO, Phyllis Illyes of Portage and Winnie (Harry) Norton of Hobart and lots of other friends, relatives, nieces, nephews and cousins. Special thanks to all the associates at Northlake Nursing and Rehab Center in Merrillville. Barbara belongs to the New Life Church in Portage, 2780 Russell Street.

Services will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2010, 12:00 Noon at the New Life Church with Brother Harry Norton and Pastor Forrest Duncan officiating. Friends and relatives may visit with the family at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Time of Services.) Burial at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville will follow. Burns Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel in charge of arrangements. www.burnsfuneral.com
