James W. "Chef Jim" Cantrell, 61, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Red Bush, in Johnson County, died Friday, May 19, 2023, from injuries suffered in an accident on that day in Mesa, Arizona.

He was born Oct. 10, 1961, in Johnson County, the son of the late Anon Cantrell and Ethel Doolin Cantrell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William Ron Cantrell, Edsel Cantrell, and Pat Cantrell; one sister, Bonnie (Cantrell) Jarvis; and three brothers-in-law, Cassie Skaggs, Irvin Williams and Jimmie Keaton.

He is survived by his sisters, Wilma Litteral, of Mesa, Ariz., Dixie Skaggs, of Lexington, Carol Williams, of Tucson,Ariz., Marilyn Haney, of Paintsville, and Angie Keaton, of Lexington; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Graveside service will be held at 12 p.m., Oct. 10, 2023, at Castle Cemetery in Red Bush.
