Laurie A. Lewis (nee Shirk) age 42, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2002. Laurie
had been a lifelong Portage and Hobart area resident and was a member of Hobart High School graduating Class of 1979.

Laurie is survived by her husband, David Lewis; two children, Nick (Susana) Lewis, South Haven, Jenny Lewis, Lake Station; two grandchildren, Nicholas Lewis and Justin Priestas; two sisters, Gail Kuchta, Waynesville, NC, Sandy (Phil) Manning, Hobart; one brother, Joe (Lisa) Shirk, Bartlett, Illinois; four nieces, Jannette Kuchta, Kelly (Donny) Somers, Nikki Shirk, Gwennie Shirk; one nephew, Bobby Kuchta; great nephew, Tony Somers; grandmother, Laura Carpenter (who she was named after); many aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by parents Joe and Gwen Shirk; brothers, Tony and Nick Shirk; grandfather, Robert Carpenter; and in-laws, Catherine and William Lewis.

Laurie was a great lover of her pets who were RJ, Taz, Rusty, Andy, Midnight Marky, Peaches, Honey Bear and Bo.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 20, 2002, 7:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Mr. John Berlin, Minister, officiating. Cremation will follow at Calvary Crematory. Visitation will be Friday, 4 to 7 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart.
