John Wrolen - Class Of 1962

OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, MARCH 20, 2013:

Wrolen, John W. Age 68, of Hobart, passed away March 18, 2013. He was born in Belleville, IL and graduated from Hobart High School, Class of 1962. He retired from the Gary Police Department with 36 years of service and 26 years at Methodist Hospital in the Security Department. He was also a River Forest Camp Counselor and lunchroom/ playground aide at Evans Elementary School. John was a 32 year member of the American Legion Post 100, 40/8 Voiture 470, Sons of the American Legion Squadron 100, and First District, Ben K. Perry FOP Lodge #61, and Hobart VFW Post 5365. John served the American Legion as the First District Commander 2000-2001 and Department Northern Vice Commander 2011-2012.

He was preceded in death by his parents George M. and Celeste Wrolen and brother Charles Wrolen. He is survived by his wife Denise of Hobart; daughter Kimberly Vagus of Valparaiso; brothers Richard Wrolen and Roger Wrolen of Hobart; stepsons Robert Witt and James (Stacy) Witt; grandchildren Amber, Ivy, Andrew, Ashley, Myah, Abigail, Delaney, Emma and Chloe; and great-granddaughter Gabriella.

Friends may visit with John's family on Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th St., Hobart. Memorial Service at 7 p.m. by The American Legion and 40/8. Funeral Service Thursday at 10 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home (Hobart). Pastor Ryan McDowell officiating. Burial at Calumet Park Cemetery. www.burnsfuneral.com
