Thomas (Tom) Shults - Class Of 1960

OBITUARY FROM THE POST-TRIBUNE WEBSITE:

THOMAS L. SHULTS Age 60, of Hobart, IN, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at St. Anthony Hospital in Crown Point, IN.

Thomas was born in Valparaiso, IN, July 31, 1942 to Milton and Ethel M. Shults. Thomas served in the US Marine Corp for 3 1/2 years and retired from the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Hobart VFW Post #5365, the Hobart American Legion Post #54, and the Hobart FOP Lodge #121. He enjoyed golfing and bowling. Thomas also worked a fair number of part time jobs during his life time, most recently, working as a part time bookkeeper at Goff Construction and various computer related jobs at Plastic Line Company in Merrillville.

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Ethel Shults and a great nephew Kristopher. Thomas is survived by a sister, Kathleen (Robert) Winovich of Merrillville, IN; a brother, Howard (Loy) Shults of Porter, IN; 5 nieces; 1 nephew; 2 great nieces; 1 great nephew and many good friends in the Hobart area.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN with Rev. Charles R. Strietelmeier officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso, IN. Friends may call on Friday from 3-8 p.m. at the Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel. Friday evening the Hobart VFW and American Legion will conduct services at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorials be given to the American Heart Association in Thomas' memory.
