OBITUARY FROM REES FUNERAL HOME WEBSITE:
Betty Ronk, 91, of Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
Born with a heart full of love and generosity, Betty devoted her life to her family. Her love extended far beyond her own family — Betty was Mom to many, welcoming them as her own. She created a home that was more than just four walls — it was a gathering place filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. Anyone who walked through her door felt welcome, nourished, and cared for, whether through a warm meal, a listening ear, or simply her comforting presence.
Her years were spent working in the yard alongside her family, building memories with every season. Betty’s meals were always comfort food, with many favorites of family and friends being her Italian beef, beef and noodles, lasagna, and apple slices. She poured her love into cooking, often preparing meals for graduations, weddings, and reunions making family gatherings extra special. She also enjoyed trips to Canada with her family, where she found joy in relaxing and enjoying the fresh air. Her table was a meeting place where conversations flowed easily, and there was always a fresh pot of coffee waiting.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harland Ronk, Sr.; her son, James Ronk; and her siblings, Nora, Chuck, George, Isaac, Bill, John, Pete, Nellie, and Sarah.
Betty is survived by her children: Harland Ronk, Jr., Harold Ronk, Billy Ronk (Linda), and Deborah Carver (Tom). She was a cherished grandmother to Jeannene Brunicon (Tom), Bill Ronk, Katie Dietrich (Greg), Adam Ronk, Michael Howell, Madison Carver, Mackenzie Carver, and Mason Carver, and a proud great-grandmother to Austin Brunicon, Levi Brunicon, Abigayle Brunicon, Lane Dietrich, Levi Dietrich, Luke Dietrich, and Leni Lou Dietrich. She also leaves behind many loved nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
A private graveside service will be held for family and close friends on Saturday, September 27, 2025. A celebration of Betty’s life will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 2:00–7:00 PM at the American Legion Post 502, 429 County Rd 750 N, Valparaiso, Indiana.
Betty’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and family. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts
