DONALD P. AHRENSAge 70 of Hobart passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010. He was born on December 19, 1939 in Gary, Indiana to the late Phillip and Leaotice Ahrens. Donald was a lifetime Hobart resident and was a graduate of Hobart High School, Class of 1958. He was a proud Hobart Brickie. He was a retired Truck Driver working for Gary Transfer and was a member of Teamsters Local 142, and the Hobart Moose Lodge, #783. Above all Donald loved his family.

He is survived by his wife of over 33 years, Virginia "Ginnie" Ahrens of Hobart, IN; 4 children, Vickie (Marty) Taylor of Valparaiso, IN; Jeff (Muna) Ahrens of Crown Point, IN; Tina (Sid) Wilson of Hobart, IN; Christine Wedding of Portage, IN; 2 brothers, Ronald (Sue) Ahrens of Fisher, IN; Dennis (Judy) Ahrens of Valparaiso, IN; 10 grandchildren, Christian, Toni, Jeremy, Raymond, Ashlee, Malissa, Aly, Cydnee, Simone, and Kyle, and 3 great-grandchildren, Grace, Ilijah, and Gianni. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Leaotice Ahrens, and 1 son-in-law Randy Rosenberry.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Donald's honor may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society .
