Carolyn Y. Ameling, 71, of Michigan City formerly of Chesterton, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011. She was born October 17, 1940 in Gary, IN to Kelso C. and Helen V. (Dusky) Ball. Carolyn graduated from Hobart High School. She attended Elkhart Dental School and received her L.P.N. from Purdue University. Carolyn had served as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years throughout Northwest Indiana. Knitting and crocheting were favorite activities for her and she loved spending time observing nature.

On August 8, 1959 Carolyn married Ramon H. Ameling who survives along with their children: Dean (Susan) Ameling of Valparaiso, Cindy Ameling of Missouri, and Janet (Mark) Lipinski of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; sisters: Susan (John) Palenik of Munster and Terry Young of Valparaiso; grandchildren: Devon and Brandon Darnell, and Randi and Jamie Lipinski; two great grandchildren; and all of her four legged friends at home. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Richard Ball.
