Leonard R. "Bob" Bessigano - Class Of 1958

OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, MARCH 4, 2007:

LEONARD R. BESSIGANO "Bob" Lake Station, Indiana Age 68 passed away suddenly at home on Friday, March 2, 2007. Bob had been a lifelong Hobart and Lake Station area resident. He was a Hobart High School graduate of the Class of 1958. Bob was a retired U.S. Army Reservist SFC 12th Special Forces Airborne Green Beret Company C SFOD-135 with 20 years of service. Bob worked for Inland Steel for 10 years and the Budd Company for 15 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America for 30 years and was an Advisor to the Explorers Troop #42 for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Doris; 3 children, Karen Visalli, Lynn B. Watts and Gunner Bessigano; 2 grandchildren, Kristen Watts and Derek Watts, all of Lake Station; 3 brothers, Peter (Pat) Bessigano of Cedar Lake, James (Joy) Lloyd of Texas, Robert (Elaine) Lloyd of Ohio; 1 sister, Nancy (Lester) Wesley of Hobart; special friends, Jim and Denise Mullins of Hobart, Brent Watts of Lake Station, Danny and Judy Wooten, Ruby Mullins, B.B. Hester, Steve and Rita Ledbetter, all of Alabama, John and Debbie Schroeder of Illinois, Bill and Jan Kirby, Robert Mekola, Ray Flanigan, all of Indiana. Preceded in death by parents, Leonard Bessigano Sr. and Grace Durham.

Funeral services Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at 11 a.m. from Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Rev. Samuel Abbott officiating. Cremation Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart. www.reesfuneralhomes.com
