It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Stephen Gaydos, who departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the age of 85. Ronald passed away in Crown Point, Indiana, surrounded by the love of his family.
Ronald was born in Gary, Indiana, on June 6, 1940. He will be remembered for proudly serving in the military as an Army MP in Germany, from 1961 to 1964 and honorably discharged in 1967. Following his service in the military, Ronald excelled in his career as a Piping Engineer, which he loved.
Beyond his professional life, Ronald possessed a rare talent for Karate and taught classes as their Sensei. He enjoyed spending many meticulous hours building models of military vehicles with his sons. Ronald had a witty sense of humor and comedic sarcasm that always kept his family laughing around the dinner table. He was a devoted family man whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Ronald is survived by his devoted wife, Justine Gaydos; his sons, Ronald (Mary) Gaydos and Steve (Angie) Gaydos; his sister, Beverly Perkins Long. He was the proud grandfather of Myranda (Steven) Novy, Ryan, Zachery, and Isabel Gaydos, and Holly (Phil) Hess; and great-grandfather to Brantley Novy. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Stephen and Elizabeth Gaydos and his grandson, David (survived by his wife Karen) Callahan.
A memorial visitation to honor Ronald’s journey will be held at Burns Funeral Home & Crematory, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN, on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 4 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 6 p.m. Deacon Brian Nosbusch officiating.
