John David Link was born on May 30, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois, son of John Link and Frances Lynch. He graduated from Hobart High School in 1958, and enlisted in the Navy in 1960. He was married to Peggy Mlynek in 1962, lived in Toledo, Ohio, and divorced in 1987. They are known to have had a son, Sean Albert Link, who was born in 1966 in Gary, Indiana, and died in 2005.
John died on January 28, 2003.
