Obituary for Sandra "Sandy" L. Ledyard

Sandra L. "Sandy" Ledyard, of Crown Point, age 84 passed away March 29, 2025. She was a retired teacher, guidance counselor, and guidance Director. She loved education and attended Valparaiso University, Ball State, IU, Purdue, and the Lilly Fellows Program. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Sagamore of the Wabash, Chamber of Commerce (Florida), Kiwanis, Master Gardners Association, and the Methodist Church. Sandy enjoyed reading, cooking, shopping, decorating, being outdoors, watching sports, and spending winters in her Florida home. She was also an avid traveler. Her most cherished roles were being a wife, mom, and gramma.

She is survived by her son, Bill of Hobart; daughter, Barb (Dan) Merrill of Crown Point; two granddaughters: Kelly Merrill of Chicago; and Colleen Merrill of Indianapolis; one sister, Sharon Lohmann of Fond Du Lac, WI; and several loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill; parents: Bob and Virginia Ramsey; father and mother-in-law: John and Jean Ledyard. 

Funeral services will be Friday, April 4, 2025 at 11:00am; Pastor Mark Wilkins officiating at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th Street; Hobart, IN 46342. Interment at Graceland Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 2pm-7pm at Burns Funeral Home, 219-942-1117. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to:
