Judith Ann Kish (nee Russell), age 84, of Gary, IN, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023.
Judy was born on April 14, 1939 in Clinton, IN to the late James and Marge (nee Snowberry) Russell. She was a graduate of Hobart High School, Class of 1958. After high school, Judy worked for Playboy as a secretary and worked under Hugh Heffner. She was even able to see Queen Elizabeth II when she visited Chicago in 1959. Judy married Andrew Kish and spent at least 45 years together until his passing in 2010. She worked as a housekeeper for many years with Southlake Mental Health Hospital.
Judy loved to be with her family and friends. Her favorite memory was her 75th surprise birthday party. She lived for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Judy enjoyed going to Four Winds Casino and Las Vegas. She was a collector of Barbies and a big soap opera fan. She kept up with everyone using Facebook and loved her family deeply. She is a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend who will be missed by all.
Judy is survived by her sons: James Tucker and Andrew “Jack” (Lana) Kish; siblings: Joe Russell, Sam (Jan) Russell, and Dorothy Russell; grandchildren: Kevin Kish, James Tucker, Jr., Brandon Kish, Jordan Tucker, Jared Tucker, Jeremy Tucker, Krislynn (Jake) Sedletzeck, and Destiny Slinker; Great-grandchildren: Maveric, Giselle, and others too numerous to name; siblings-in-law: Janice Russell, Don Straw, and Russ; dear nephew and niece: Johnny and Jackie Russell and others too numerous to name; and other extended family members and close friends.
Judy is preceded in death by her husband: Andrew; parents: James and Marge; sons: Gerald Lee Tucker, Jr. and Jeff Tucker; siblings: Jimmy Russell, John Russell, Hank Russell, Millie Straw, and Suzie Russell; best friend and sister-in-law: Mick Russell; and grandchildren: Bryan Kish and Kelly Kish.
Per Judy’s wishes, there will be no funeral service held. Cremation is entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
