Lorena Evelyn Coppes, 82, of Mill Creek, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born August 6, 1940 in Hammond, Indiana, the daughter of Edward Williams and Hazel (Boling) Williams.

Lorena moved to the La Porte area in 1986 from Beverly Shores.  She worked as the dental office manager for her second husband, the late Billy Coppes, who she married April 2, 1977. Together they traveled the world, with Mexico being their favorite destination. She also retired from Weil McLain manufacturing on October 9, 2000.  Lorena was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in La Porte.  She bowled in several leagues, loved gardening, especially mowing her lawn and was an avid reader. Lorena enjoyed watching birds, especially cardinals but she had a very special place in her heart for dogs. She would go to the humane society and bring home disabled dogs that no one would adopt.

Lorena is survived by her three daughters, Janet (Allen) Rochau of Loveland, CO, Carrie Hawkins of Rolling Prairie, IN, Rhonda (Frank) Hampel of Mill Creek, IN; step-daughter, Cathy Coppes of Portage, IN; grandchildren, Jason and Aaron Rochau, Carlie (Matt) Zona, Courtney (J.J.) Heath, Casey and Craig Hawkins, Loren (Justin) Piotrowicz,  Delainey Hampel; great-grandchildren, Lennon Piotrowicz and soon to be baby, Bubba Biscuit Piotrowicz, Julian Heath, Gavin and Jamie Hawkins, Davin Rochau and her precious pup, Annie Marie.

Lorena was preceded in death by her parents; first husband and the father of her children, Ronald Ahrens; second husband, Billy E. Coppes; step-son, Steven Coppes and brother, Edward Leroy Williams.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN.  A Celebration of Lorena's Life will be on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private, family only.
