Howard Eastwood - Class Of 1975

Howard “Ern” Lawrence Eastwood, age 65, was an amazing father, son, brother, grandfather, and friend. He passed away peacefully in his daughter’s home on April 29, 2022.

He was born to Howard and Kay Eastwood on March 1, 1957 and grew up in Hobart, IN. He attended Trinity Lutheran School through 8th grade and graduated from Hobart High School in 1975. He moved to Portage, IN in 1985 where he raised his children and lived the remaining years of his life. He was an iron worker for Munster Steel in Hammond, IN from which he retired in August of 2020.

Howard was well known by others as “the coolest”, a fun loving, caring man who had a great passion for music, hot rods, and his grandchildren. He was always good at making others laugh with his famous “one liners”. He left a memorable impression on everyone who ever met him. He loved spending time swimming, working out, and enjoying a great meal with family/friends.

He leaves behind his beloved daughter and caregiver, Wendy Vottero; eldest daughter, Trisha (Derek) Yoder; parents, Howard and Kay Eastwood; brother, Keith Eastwood; sisters Linda (Chuck) Kuntz, and Stacy (Rick) Thyen; grandchildren Elizabeth, Tommy, Alyssa, Jacob, Adalynn, Emily, Olivia, Megan, and John-Luc; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his son, Mark Eastwood; grandparents, Howard and Helen Eastwood and Kenneth and Delma Vaughn; and aunt, Rhonda Patterson.
