Cindy Guess (Webdell) - Class Of 1975

Cynthia L. Webdell "Cindy" (nee Guess) Hobart Cynthia L. Webdell "Cindy" (nee Guess), age 48, of Hobart, passed away at home with her family at her side on Friday, October 1, 2004, after a more than 27 month battle with kidney cancer. She was a resident of Hobart almost all of her life and was born in Gary on December 9, 1955 to Calvin and Juanita Guess who both preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her grandparents, Henry and Crystal Guess and Scott and Grace Moore.

She is survived by her husband of almost 30 years, John Webdell, Jr.; sons, William (Hayley) Webdell of Schererville and CPL. Joseph Webdell, U.S.M.C./Hobart; granddaughter Elizabeth of Maurepas, LA; sister Beverly Novak (Roger) of Hessville; brothers, Calvin (Robin) Guess of Michigan City, Steve (Barb) Guess of Chandler, AZ; many in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; especially her best friends who were there till the end, and brought her so much joy. Cathy Busse, Patty Carrol, Kathy Ragon and her dear sister-in-law, Kim Webdell. Cindy was employed as a meat wrapper for 13 years with Buylow and Valumart Foods in Gary and was most recently employed with Crazy Al's in Portage until she was unable to continue her beloved work there because of her illness. She was a former Ladies Auxiliary President for the South Haven Little League and a former secretary of the Saturday Nite Live 5 Bowling League at Camelot Lanes and was once awarded Outstanding Secretary of the Year in 1996 by the N.W.I.B.A. Cindy was well known for her infectious smile, her outstanding ability to organize anything, for her artistic abilities and creativeness. She was always the first to comfort or help someone and have a good time. She will be missed by all whom she touched in life.

Funeral services will be at Our Lady of Sorrows, 356 W. Seven Mile Road, Valparaiso, for a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Douglas J. Mayer officiating. Burial, Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 to 9 P.M., with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Vigil at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart; and also on Wednesday morning from 9 to 11 A.M. at Our Lady of Sorrows. Published in The Times from October 3 to October 6, 2004.
