OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, MARCH 9, 2005

Michael V. Neely, age 24 of Hobart passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at St. Anthony Hospital in Crown Point, IN. Michael was born in Crown Point, IN on November 8, 1980 to John and Janet (Moor) Neely, Michael was employed through Operating Engineer's Local #150 working as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Michael was a member of the Westville Masonic Lodge #192, F and A.M. He is a graduate of Hobart High School, Class of 1999. Michael had obtained his associated degree in OLS (Organizational Leadership Skills) and was due to graduate in December, 2005 with a bachelor in OLS from Purdue University, Calumet Campus. He enjoyed being active at the Robison's Martial Arts in Valparaiso and was a Blackbelt in Sekai-Ryu--Jiu-jitsu. He was very proud of competing in NHB and Grappling Tournaments. Michael was an excellent athlete and body builder and also loved Skydiving. Michael is remembered as an incredibly nice and caring individual.

Michael is survived by his parents: John and Janet Neely; his brother, John Neely, Jr.; and his fiancee, Shannon Hunsicker, all of Hobart, IN; his grandparents: Dorothy and Victor Moor and Doris Neely all of Crown Point, IN; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; his beloved dog, "Ziggy"; and many special friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2005, 11 a.m. at the Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN with Pastor John R. Barley and Pastor Scott Bane. Cremation through Calvary Cemetery and Crematory in Portage, IN. Friends may call on Friday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel. The Westville Masonic Lodge will conduct services at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be given to the family. For additional information, call 219-942-2109.
