Ben Watts - Class Of 1950

OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, APRIL 9, 2005

Benjamin C. "Ben" Watts, age 73, of Hobart, IN, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2005, at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart, IN. Ben was born in Gary, IN on December 29, 1931 to Benjamin and Pearl (Ols) Watts. He was a life long Hobart resident, graduate of Hobart High School and an avid Brickie fan. Ben was retired in 1997 with 45 years service from U.S. Steel Corporation, having worked in the Plate Mill's Roll Shop. He was a member of the Hobart VFW Post #5365 and American Legion Post #54.

Ben is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Margaret Ann Watts; two sons: Benjamin "Ben" (Monica) Watts of Phoenix, AZ and David (Kara) Watts of Hobart, IN; five daughters: Kanne (Steve) Knezz of Homer Glen, IL, Patti (Bill) Tharp of Wheeler, IN, Theresa (Mike) Camarena of Hobart, IN, Nanette Markovich of Hobart, IN and Donna (Gordon) Miller of Greer, SC; 13 grandchildren: Layne and Lucas Watts, Stephanie, Emily and Matt Knezz, Jennifer and Lisa Tharp, Nicholas, Zachary and Hanna Camarena, Megan Markovich, Robert and Jessica McGlothlin.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 11, 2005, 1:30 a.m. at the Rees Funeral Home, 600 Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN with Rev. John Blakslee officiating. Burial Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, Hobart, IN. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Rees Funeral Home, Hobart, IN. An American Legion/VFW service will be held on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Stephan Episcopal Church. For more information, call 942-2109.
