William Richard Welton - Class Of 1943

OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, SEPTEMBER 20, 2007

William Richard Welton Hobart, IN William Richard Welton age 82, of Hobart, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Munster Community Hospital. He was a lifelong Hobart resident and a member of the Southlake Church of the Nazarene. Richard graduated from Hobart High School in 1943. Mr. Welton served in bother WWII and the Korean War with the distinction of playing the sousaphone in the Air Force Band. He was instrumental in the development of the River Forest Improvement Association. Richard was an honorary lifetime member of Hobart Township friends of the Library. He was a retired pipe fitter affiliated with local 597.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, M. Eileen Welton of Hobart, son Richard Welton also of Hobart, daughter Loyce Ann (Richard) Fandrei of Highland, Donalyn (Greg) Wilson of Valparaiso, five grandchildren: Timothy (Libby) Fandrei and Eric (Sarah) Fandrei, Leanne (Joe) Schultz, Jim Wilson and Marja Wilson; great grandson, Kade Robert Fandrei, brother, Dale (Doris) Welton of Plymouth, MI, sisters-in-law: Kay Welton Scutt of Bourbannais, IL, LaVerne Welton of Valparaiso, Laurene Owens Mills of Hobart and Delores Owens Davis of Baytown, TX. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Phyllis Welton and Lois Jeane Welton, brothers, Wayne and Delbert Welton and brother in law Wayne Owens.

In lieu of flowers contributions to either Nazarene Indian Bible College or Adam Benjamin V.A. Clinic in Crown Point would be appreciated. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 22, 2007 11:00 a.m. at Southlake Church of the Nazarene, 7355 E. 81st Ave., Merrillville, with Rev. Russell Hosey officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Hobart. Visitation will be Friday, September 21, 2007 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W.
