OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, APRIL 8, 2004

Mary Jane Butler, (nee Galler), age 80, of Hobart,passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at home. Mary Jane was born December 11,1923, to Frank and Jennie Galler in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. She moved to Hobart in February of 1935 and graduated from Hobart High School in 1941. Mary Jane was united in marriage to Charles Butler on August 16,1947. She is a member of Hobart American Legion Post #54 Ladies Auxiliary, Pinochle Club since 1941, also member of St. Bridget Catholic Church and St. Anne's Archconfraternity.

Mary Jane is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Charles; six children; Thomas (Twyla) Butler, Denise (Jim) Williams, Jean (David) Thornton, Susan (Terry) Jacobs, Carla (Steve) Houck, Marcia (B.J.) Thompson; nine grandchildren; Terry, Justin, Libby, Matt, Leslie, Lauren, Joe, Candice and Mitchell; two great- grandchildren, Maddy and Lilly; sister-in-law, Helen Galler; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Jennie Galler, brother, James and his wife,Shirley, and brother, John. Mary Jane was generous and caring. She was loved by all her family and endeared to her many friends and neighbors. We will miss the "Fair Lady."

Funeral services will be Friday, April 9, 2004,10 am at Rees Funeral home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart,with Rev. Dominic V. Bertino officiating. Cremation will follow the service.Visitation is Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
