Leonore Hill - Class Of 1940

OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, FEBRUARY 20, 2008

Leonore H. "Tootie" Hill, age 86, of Hobart, passed away Monday, February 18, 2008 at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart. Leonore was a lifelong Hobart resident and a 1940 graduate of Hobart High School. She had been employed as a credit manager at Montgomery Wards for 25 years and subsequently employed at Ribordy Drugs and then Walgreens for 18 years. She was a "Pink Lady" with the St. Mary Medical Center Auxiliary and devoted many hours at the Hospital Gift Shop. Leonore was also a former Girl Scout Leader, member of the Ladies Golf League at Indian Ridge Golf Course, an avid "house boater" on Burns Ditch. She was an animal lover and rescued many stray cats and dogs that people abandoned near her home on Liverpool Road.

Leonore is survived by three daughters: Sharon Beauchamp of Ft. Smith, AR, Bonnie Mills and Charlene (Mitch) King, all of Hobart; five grandchildren: Polly, Samantha, Mickey, Demas and Melissa; nine great grandchildren: Stratton, Lauren, Kelsey, Sasha, Drayton, McKenzie, Becca, Alyhia and Dalton; niece and nephew: Joy and Alan Vedope. Her husband, James D. Hill, preceded her in death in 1979.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 11:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Charles R. Strietelmeier officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
