Betty Ele (Riley) - Class Of 1943

OBITUARY IN THE NW INDIANA TIMES, MAY 17, 2005

Betty L. Riley, age 79, of Lake Station passed away Friday, May 13, 2005 at Millers Merry Manor in Hobart. Betty was a graduate of Hobart High School, Class of 1943. With her husband, Wallace, she owned and operated Liverpool Paint & Hardware. She was formerly employed at U.S. Steel, Sheet & Tin Mill, Goldblatts Dept. Store and Gordons Dept. Store. Betty loved to camp, fish and play bunco.

She is survived by her husband, Wallace Riley, four children: Joannie (Keith) Williams of Westville, IN, Butch (Margaret) Riley, also of Westville, Donna Riley and Kim (Jim) Klimek-Robison, both of Lake Station, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; sister, Janet (Pete) Peterson of Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Viola Ele of Hobart; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by grandson, Joseph Gene Castellanos, parents, Ernest,Sr. and Vera Ele, brothers and sisters: Aileen Heavlin, Richard Ele, Ernest Ele, Jr., Becky Ele and Wesley Ele.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd. Hobart, with Rev. Bill Westmoreland, officiating. Cremation to follow at Calvary Crematory in Portage. In lieu of flowers contributions to the family would be appreciated. Visitation is Tuesday, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
