Lois Veronte Obituary
Lois Veronte, passed away unexpectedly early Christmas morning surrounded by her family and beloved husband, Ray Veronte. She had just spent an enjoyable Christmas Eve dinner with four generations of her family and we are all grateful for that time together.
Lois was born on February 6, 1932 in Hobart Indiana to Richard and Hazel Nuzum. She always considered Hobart home. After graduating from Hobart High School in 1950, she went to Indiana University in Bloomington graduating in 1953 with a degree in education. It was at IU she met her husband, Ray. She taught third grade for a year in Gary, IN prior to marrying Ray on June 19, 1954. They then moved to Massachusetts where Ray was serving as a 2nd Lt in the Air Force. In 1955 their daughter, Kristin was born in Holyoke, MA. After Ray was discharged in 1955 they moved across the country to Fresno, CA, where Robert and Tracy were born. In 1962 Ray and Lois moved their young family to Lafayette. CA. Lois later worked for Chevron retiring after 15 years.
In 1979 Ray and Lois with their son, Robert opened their first Burger King Restaurant in Yakima. While expanding their business, Ray and Lois continued to split their time between Yakima and California for many years.
Lois had a strong faith and commitment to her Lord and church wherever she went. Together with friends they traveled extensively through out the world. Her trip to the Holy Land was one of her fondest.
Lois loved her family and enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert, and her daughter, Kristen. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Veronte, and her children, Robert (Peggy) and Tracy Veronte; her grandchildren, Tony (Dawn) Olmstead, Monica (Steve) Alm, Kevin (Randi) Veronte, Jason Joseph, and great grandchildren, Gavin and Cole Olmstead, and Victoria Alm.
There will be a private burial service on January 3, 2014 in Terrace Heights.
