Age 47, of Kalispell, Montana, died Thursday Dec 13, 1990 after a short battle with stomach cancer. Born May 12, 1943 in Childress, Tx. he was the son of Mervyn & Elizabeth Newman. He was raised and attended Junior & Senior high school in Hobart, In. and formerly resided in New Chicago. While in school he won numerous band awards for playing the trumpet. He attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville, Mo. where he received his Master's degree in education in 1966. He began his teaching career of 25 years in Bayard, Iowa. After one year, he transferred to Cumberland Masena, Iowa, where he had a quality rating high school band for 13 years. He married Marilyn Ann Hartmen on June 12, 1976. In 1980 he moved to Marceline, Mo., and began his full time Christian service in 1985 when he moved to Kalispell, Mo. There he taught band and vocal choir at Flathead Christian School for 5 years. Most recently he was a desk clerk for the Super 8 Motel in Kalispell. He was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. Funeral services were Dec 17, 1990 from Gospel Light Baptist Church with Rev Gene Blackburn officiating. Burial followed at Conrad Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Newman is survived by his wife, Marilyn; a son, Tyson Michael; father, Mervyn; a sister; two bothers; and several nieces & nephews; and hundreds of friends and other relatives.
